'Reel Issues':
05 Dec 2011
Do you enjoy watching films?
Would you enjoy exploring with others some of the issues
raised on the big screen?
Then…
Come along for the 'REEL ISSUES Film
On Saturday 14th January @ 4pm @ The Flicks
Enjoy watching a movie in the air conditioned, comfortable
and unique Flicks movie house, followed by the opportunity
to discuss and explore together.
We will be watching "WIT".
Vivian Bearing is a
college professor who teaches English
poetry. Vivian learns that she has advanced ovarian
cancer and only a short
time to live, which gives her a sudden and dramatic
insight into the importance
of kindness and compassion.
At
the same
time, it ruthlessly deconstructs the modern medical
research establishment.
This excellent film is driven by sharp dialogue,
controlled direction and
Thompson's riveting, dead-on portrayal of the scholar,
with fine supporting
performances by the other actors.
"Fractures
the
funny bone, then the heart. It triumphs on every level"
Los
Angeles Times
Length
99
minutes. Rated: PG-13.
