We’re so glad you could join us for our online service today! We’re about halfway through our Bible overview series, and today Pastor Andrew will be sharing the message about ‘The Exile’.
If you have an encouragement to share with others, you’re very welcome to post them in the live comments at 10am. We will also be having a time of Communion later on in the service, so please have some bread and some grape juice or wine ready so you can follow along from home.
Today is also the last day to fill in our online survey for meeting together. If you’re an ICF member and you haven’t already filled in the survey, we would really appreciate if you could complete it today. The survey link is here: https://forms.gle/W3eyUPLGkx4mXAhp9
Our Zoom Coffee & Conversation chat is still on after the service at about 10.45am. We’d love for you to join us! Meeting ID: 850 2825 6623 Passcode: 391674

Our topic for week 6 of our 'The Big Picture' Bible overview series is ‘The Exile’.
1) There were 2 Exiles: - 722BC (Israel, the Northern Kingdom, to Assyria. See 2 Kings 17:1-6). - 586 BC (Judah, the Southern Kingdom, to Babylon. See 2 Kings 25).
2) Why did the 2 Exiles happen (see 2 Kings 17:7-23)?
3) The former nation of Israel, which split into the 2 Kingdoms of Israel (North) and Judah (South) were now no longer in God's place or under God's rule. Has God entirely rejected his people? (n.b. Ezra 9:8-9, Isaiah 11:10-16, Jeremiah 23:1-8, Romans 11:1-10).
4) The Old Testament people of God were most often a rebellious nation. In what ways or areas of life are you most likely to be rebellious towards God and our Saviour, Jesus? (You may want to reflect on this silently rather than share answers with a group).
5) Take time to pray for each other and Christians everywhere to stay faithful to Jesus. Thank God for his consistent, faithful, unchanging character.
🔹You Never Let Go 🔹 Benediction // Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. (Hebrews 13:20-21) __________________ Tithes and offerings: Thank you for your special efforts to pass on your tithes and offerings during this time. Welcome to our online service today! We’re now in the 5th week of our Bible overview series and Pastor Andrew will be sharing the message today about ‘Kings’ based on 1 Samuel 12.
Once again, if you’re an ICF member we would really appreciate if you could fill in our online survey as soon as possible: https://forms.gle/W3eyUPLGkx4mXAhp9 This will provide us with the information we need so that our committee who are organizing how we can meet together in person can proceed with next steps. If you could take a few minutes of that time to fill in the survey, it would be very helpful. We’ll update you in the near future for when we can meet together, but in the meantime we will still be providing online services.
Our Zoom Coffee & Conversation chat is also on right after the service at about 10.45am. We hope you can drop in to say hi and stay for a quick chat. Meeting ID: 846 7383 8348 Passcode: 803132

We're up to week 5 of our 'The Big Picture' Bible overview series. The topic is 'Kings', meaning the request by the Israelites to have a King 'Like the other nations' to rule over them.
1) Try to skim through Judges. How consistent is Israel in following and obeying the Lord?
Ironically, and disobediently, now that Israel are 'God's People in God's place under God's Rule’ they demand to have a King!
2) How serious a threat to their relationship with God is Israel's demand for a King? (Read Joshua 24:14-27, 1 Samuel 8:1-9 & 1 Samuel 12:12-15).
3) 1 & 2 Samuel describe Samuel's life and Saul & David's kingships. 1 & 2 Kings detail Solomon's reign and the following Kings of the divided (North & South) kingdoms. Can you describe the general trend in Israel's national and religious life through these books? (See 1 Kings 9:1-9 for an idea of how it's going!).
4) Try to trace the process which led to the Kingdom of Israel splitting into the Northern and Southern sections (1 Kings 12:1-24 give you a good idea).
5) 1 Kings 9:6-9 is being fulfilled. Spend some time considering how we (you) sometimes still treat God in the same way as the Israelites did.
6) Spend a little while in prayer thanking God for his plan to establish His People, in His Place, under His Rule and thank him that he sent a perfect King to fulfil his 'rescue mission'.
🔹Revelation Song 🔹 Benediction // May God our Creator renew in us the creative Spirit that brings healing and life to our world. May Jesus the Christ, uphold us in grace and love. May the Holy Spirit fill us with courage to be bearers of God’s song of hope in the world. Amen. ________ Tithes and offerings: Thank you for your special efforts to pass on your tithes and offerings during this time. 🔹Today is the Day 🔹Great are You, Lord 🔹 ICF Online // Live at 10am -- Welcomes // Ashley -- Kids Spot // Christina A. -- Worship: All Along // Jen, Asha & Ty -- Bible reading: Exodus 5:22-6:8 // Margaret -- Message: The Exodus, the Law and the Land // Pastor Andrew -- Prayer // Nigel -- Closing & Benediction // Ashley 🔹 Discussion questions:
In this fourth week of our 'The Big Picture' Bible overview series we cover Genesis chapter 16 to the end of Deuteronomy - and a bit more!
We’re covering the topics of 'The Exodus, the Law and the Land'. As the story of God's rescue plan for humanity and creation continues we see that, just as Adam and Eve were initially God's People in God's Place (Eden) under God's Rule (obeying him in Eden), God is now restoring a People for himself, in their own place, under his rule. He promised this to Abram in the Covenant.
In Exodus and through to the end of Joshua we see God create the nation of Israel (God's People) and establish them in Canaan (God's place) under the direction of the Law (under God's Rule).
1) If you use these resources in a group and there are enough of you (6 or 7 or 8) try this. Divide up Genesis chapters 16 to 50 between you and take the time to read your assigned chapters. After reading them get each person to report on their chapters and see how God creates the 'People of Israel' as a nation in Egypt.
2) At the end of Genesis God has fulfilled his Covenant promise to make Abram into a great nation. Discuss how God now rescues his people from Egypt. What is God teaching His people?
3) By the end of Exodus 20 Israel has been given the law. Is the law given to them before or after Israel has been saved (rescued) from Egypt?
4) What is the law given to Israel for? (see also Galatians 3:15-25).
Now Israel is a 'nation' and has the law to tell them how to live as God's people. Next God provides a land for them to live in.
5) By the end of Joshua, Israel is largely but not fully in possession of the land. God has fulfilled his promise but Israel has by now been repeatedly disobedient. The result is that they never take complete possession of the land and they ultimately also lose the land.
6) How does God plan to complete his rescue plan (begun in Genesis 3) to ultimately establish His people, in His place, under His rule?
7) I suggest you pray together in thanks for God's grace, for Jesus' love and his indwelling Spirit as he continues to establish His People, in His Place, under His Rule.
🔹Come Thou Fount 🔹 Benediction // May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favour and give you his peace. (Numbers 6:24-26 NLT) ________ Tithes and offerings: Thank you for your special efforts to pass on your tithes and offerings during this time.
